Another postcard received from Taiwan! This postcard shows an old map of Chiayi (嘉義) and Tainan (台南).

duck
Another image of the stamp and cop found from another postcard from Taiwan. It is really a special mail chop, as the Rubber Duck visited Taiwan Taoyuan in October and November in 2013.

Another postcard from Taiwan! This postcard shows Formosan sika deer (台灣梅花鹿). This kind of deer could not be found in natural environment probably since 1969 due to the influence of human activities, like development, or killing of deer. Now you could find them in some zoos, and the amount of the deer is increasing. There is a great discussion on whether to release some deer back to the nature.

Here is a postcard from Taiwan! Taiwan used to be called “The Kingdom of Butterfly”. Approximately more than 400 kinds of butterflies could be found on Taiwan. Compare with Japan, the area is 10 times larger than Taiwan, but you could find only around 230 kinds of butterflies in Japan.

A postcard from Germany! This card actually shows an important historic event in the world. It is one of the paintings found on the Berlin Wall. The museum about the Berlin Wall is called East Side Gallery.
The vehicle on this painting is called The Trabant. It is an ironic East-German Car, as it was the most common vehicle in East Germany, and was also exported to countries both inside and outside the communist bloc. but the performance of this kind of car is really poor. It was often cited as a disadvantage of centralized planning. And also it is symbolized as the fall of East Germany.

The first stamp had been introduced before. And the second stamp was released in 2007. It is about the 75 Anniversary of the saale talsperre bleiloch (Saale Dam Bleiloch), umm, I guess is an important dam or reservoir built in Germany.

My First postcard received from Slovenia! The postcard shows a view of Piran, one of the major towns in this country. The town has much medieval architecture, with narrow streets and compact houses.

The stamps are also beautiful. They are all from a series which is about flower released in 2007. The first one shows asplenium adulterinum , the second one shows primula carniolica (seems this kind of flower could only be found in this country), and the last one shows cerastium dinaricum, seems it is another kind of flower that could only be found in Slovenia and the population of this kind of flower is decreasing.

A postcard from Poland and it is my first postcard received from there. This postcard shows a map of the country, with photos of famous places in the country.

The stamps are also beautiful! They are all from a series called “Polish Alphabet” released in 2006. Balwan means snowman; Cytryna means lemon; Ćwiartka, means a quarter; Lekcja, means lesson; And Echo, it carries the same meaning as English.

Here is a very nice postcard from the Netherlands, showing a relaxing scene in the Netherlands, with animals living there peacefully and with harmony. Nijkerk is a small town in the middle part of the country.

Here comes the stamps. The middle one was released in 2008, from the series about environmental protection. The word in the sun is “zonnecollector”, meaning the Solar thermal collector. “denk groen doe groen”, i guess is the slogan, with similar meaning of think green and participate in environmental protection activities. The stamp on the right hand side was released in 2011, from a series featuring children. There are 6 stamps from the same series. And a picture of house would be formed when you put the stamps in right order.

A postcard from the Netherlands! The postcard shows the Gebouw Veenkoloniaal Museum. The building was orginally a high school campus. And now it turns to be a museum, telling visitors about the story of Groningen – a city in the Netherlands.
