東涌對於一般人來說，或許只是一個滿佈高樓住宅大樓的新市鎮，鄰近機場的新發展區，應該沒有甚麼特別的一個小區。但這次來到東涌，於逸東邨這個擁有二十五座摩天住宅大樓的公共屋邨，發現到一個小小的漁鄉—馬灣涌。位處於一塊小小的濕地上，屋子均為建於水面木柱上的棚屋，戶戶相連，前方則停泊著一艘艘小舢舨；耳邊傳來的是那純真小孩的歡愉聲。可謂認不出這兒與機場只是一海之隔；與新發展區也只是一街之隔。但願這兒將來不會淹沒於工程的塵土之中。

From Tung Chung, Lantau, Hong Kong. In people’s mind, Tung Chung maybe is just a new town for development, with only tall and dull residential buildings around. But actually near Yat Tung Estate, there is a small fishing village Ma Wan Chung. Situated at a piece of wetland at the mouth of a river, stilt houses are built on raised wooden piles over the surface of the soil.
