A postcard from the USA! The postcard shows an old painting called “Cranes on a Pine Tree” by Katsushika Hokusai. The painting was created at 1832-3. The stamp was released in 2012, due to the 100th anniversary of the Cherry Blossom Festival in the Washington D.C. The festival was founded as to commemorate the 1912 gift of 3000 cherry trees from Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo to Washington D.C. Originally, a first batch of 2000 cherry trees arrived in US in 1910 but they all died. With the coordinations of many, like chemist, professors from agriculture, finally the trees arrived in the US successfully in 1912.
